Have you ever made boo boxes? Have you ever been boo’d? This is such a fun concept for Halloween. This year our neighbors actually “Bunny’d” our house on Easter! They left half eaten carrots and a trail of goodies for my kids on our front porch. The kids got such a kick out of it and thought the Easter bunny had actually visited our house!
We had never experienced a surprise visit from one of the fairytale characters before and boy was it awesome! I thought I’d jump on the band wagon this Halloween season and test out the “you’ve been boo’d” idea. I didn’t really want to make an elaborate basket (like some I’ve seen) but thought mini boo boxes would be simple and sweet.
What you need:
Mini Hershey Bars
Harvest Mix Candy Corn
First decide how you want to decorate your mini boo boxes. I love these plastic mini take out boxes, you can peel and stick the glitter letters and foam shapes on with ease. If I needed to reposition any of the adhesive stickers it was easy since the boxes were plastic!
Fill mini clear treat bags with ghost peeps and harvest candy corn. Use curling ribbon to close the bags. Add all the goodies and or novelty toys to your boo boxes.
We also put together some of the witch clothespins from the craft kit at Oriental Trading Co. However I changed one step just a bit so that we were able to clip the witches onto our boo boxes. Flip the clothespins and use glue dots to attach them to the witch for her legs; this way you can use the clip side for your boo boxes.
I really love how these turned out! The best part is that for a fraction of the cost you can make multiple boo boxes. Leave one on your kid’s teachers desks or a couple on a neighbor’s doorstep.
