It’s almost Halloween!!! I like to keep my kids covered with glow jewelry while trick or treating just so everyone can see them, even from a block away, ha ha. Our keep kids safe halloween tip; craft a lantern! I recently made from camping lanterns for Oriental Trading Co. blog and they were a huge hit. So, I decided to make a Halloween version of these lanterns. Make this halloween lantern craft to light your way while trick or treating. Trust me, your kids will love it!
This halloween lantern craft is super easy and fun to make. The best part, they are safe! No fire. The candles are battery operated.
Here is what you need:
- Plastic Jars
- Tissue Paper Squares
- Mod Podge
- Foam Paint Brush
- Halloween Mason Jar Decals
- Striped Chenille Stems
- Halloween Tea Light Candles
This jar is the easiest to make! Simply peel off the haunted house mason jar decals and stick to the clear plastic jars. Add a halloween tea light to each jar. To create a handle you will need two chenille stems (pipe cleaners). Wrap one stem around the top, right below the jars grooves for the lid. Twist the ends together to tighten. Now to make the handle, hook the end of the stem to one side of the stem you wrapped around the jar. Fold up and twist to hold in place. Repeat on the other side of the jar.
Jack O’ Lantern
Remove the lid to the plastic jar. Using a foam paint brush, coat the jar with a thin layer of mod podge. Apply the orange tissue squares on top of the mod podge. Cover the jar completely. Apply a thin layer of mod podge over the tissue paper squares to seal them. Allow the lantern to dry.
When the lantern is dry, peel the jack o’ lantern decals and stick them to the lantern. Repeat the process for the decal jar to add your handle made from the chenille stems.
Repeat the same steps from the jack o’ lantern jar but use green tissue paper squares and the Frankenstein decals.
Repeat the same steps from the jack o’ lantern jar but use white tissue paper squares and the ghost decals.
How cool is this halloween lantern craft for kids!! Trust me, you will have a blast making them. They will also double as spooky night lights. What is your keep kids safe halloween tip?
