Create this modern flower bouquet that is not only easy to make but is also budget friendly! I partnered with Oriental Trading Co. to create this simple tutorial. Only a few supplies are needed to make a beautiful paper bouquet.

What you need:
- Assorted Bottle Glass Vases
- Pastel Washi Tape
- Primary Washi Tape
- Chenille Stems (pipe cleaners)
- Tissue Paper
Clean the vases with soapy water and remove and stickers and residue. On the smallest vase, I used the pastel washi tape. Alternating colors, apply each piece at an angle until you reach the bottom. Don’t you just love the spiral it creates?
For the medium sized vase, I use the primary patterned washi tape. Alternate the patterned tape and create horizontal stripes on ¾ of the vase. At the top of the vase I cut tiny pieces of the pastel washi tape and scattered them around the top. It looks like confetti, right!?
Lastly, the large vase. I used both the pastel and primary washi tape. I created vertical stripes starting from the base of the vase and working my way up to the top.
Which vase is your favorite?
Tissue Paper Carnations
Start by layering each color of tissue paper, 6 sheets thick. Cut the tissue paper. The wider the tissue paper, the larger the flower and the easier to pull the layers apart. Once the tissue paper is cut and stacked (6 sheets thick), fold it accordion style. Each fold was about ¾ to 1 “.
Optional: Cut rounded or pointed ends for different style of flower. You can also layer tissue paper colors for a rainbow flower.
Repeat for every flower you want to make. Grab the green chenille stems or as most of you know them as pipe cleaners. Fold the pipe cleaner around the center of your accordion tissue paper and twist to secure it into place. Spread apart the tissue paper on one side, by gently pulling the layers apart. Repeat with all 6 layers on both sides.
Tip: don’t wet your fingertips when pulling the tissue paper apart, it will tear!
Fluff the tissue paper. Repeat with each flower. Place flowers in your new washi tape vase or twist stems together for a pretty bouquet!
This gorgeous modern flower bouquet would be perfect for Valentine’s day, Mother’s day and even Cinco De Mayo. I just love how they resemble carnations. Stop by our Facebook page and post your Valentine creations! We’d love to see what you’re up too!
